Thoughts from the Sauna – January 26, 2012

Boy, do I have a lot on my mind today! Yesterday, Dollywood posted pictures of the new Wild Eagle trains. It was even more motivation to do this and do it right.

I’ve wanted an iPad for a long time, but I think I’m going to focus my energies on a Biggest Loser Slimcoach. It’s incredible. It’s made my MyTrak, look it up!

I burned 1000 calories today in my cardio. I did 7.25 miles running and a little over a mile on the recumbent bike.

I’m still trying to think of a JoMay Challenge.

Thoughts from the Sauna – January 12, 2011

It feels great to be back in the gym! I took yesterday off, so I ready to get back to it. Clay and I did some “Biggest Loser”-inspired weight training. It hurt, but I dead lifted 40 pounds!! Awesome!! I did a free weight lift of 50!! Wow! Progress!

I’m being called in early to work, so unfortunately, I’m having to cut my cardio short. :( I only got to run 4.57 miles. I have a new watch that is a heart rate monitor and calorie counter. Today, I worked out 1 hour 12 minutes and burned 904 calories.

What an awesome day.

Thoughts from the Sauna – August 15, 2011

I posted earlier that I was scared about being my weigh-in day. Well, I came in and did it. Much to much surprise, I lost 8 lbs in a week! Here’s my current weight loss stats:

August 1, 2011 – 381 lbs
August 8, 2011 – 374 lbs (-7 lbs)
August 15, 2011 – 368 lbs (-6 lbs)

Total of 13 lbs lost since August 1, 2011.

I’m thrilled!! I know it’s going to get tougher, but bring it on!

I didn’t get to do any strength training today, but I did my 5k on the elliptical, and my additional 5 minutes for the JoMay Challenge. I did a total of 4.01 miles and burned 527 calories.

Actually, I’m sure I burned more than 527. I realized today that the machine only measures up to 350 lbs. I’ve been so used to just putting maximum weight, I never thought about it being more calories burned. If the treadmill can go higher, why can’t the elliptical??

Thank you for all of your support! I appreciate it more than you’ll ever know! How are you doing so far today??

Weight Loss App Review – Restaurant Nutrition

There are countless apps out there for iPhone and Android that can help with weight loss. One of the first ones I downloaded on my old Droid and on my new iPhone was Restaurant Nutrition.

Restaurant Nutrition is a free app available with full nutrition information on over 150 locations and 30,000 menu items and growing. Journal your food, map to the nearest location and more! This app has been a lifesaver over the last week. The app is created by Unified Lifestyle. The mission of the Unified Lifestyle from their Facebook page is, “to improve the human condition through a comprehensive lifestyle plan that empowers the mind, body, and spirit of individuals across the globe.” Unified Lifestyle is supported by Grant Roberts, fitness trainer to Hollywood Stars and a man dedicated to improving the health of individuals through the understanding and maintaining of proper nutrition and exercise.

Let me break down the app for you! Click on any pictures to enlarge them.

Upon loading the app, you’ll see a list of restaurants you can choose from.

For this review, I selected Chick-fil-A. Select your restaurant and you’ll see a list of the items, categorically, offered at there.

I selected the Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich. When it first loads, you’ll see a picture (if a user has uploaded one), and it’s caloric content, as well as a user rating, protein, fat, carbs, and fiber content.

Scrolling down will reveal a further breakdown of the nutrition content, as well as an option to record the item for the current day, or to put in on a previous day.

Clicking on the calendar icon at the bottom of the app will bring up the dates you have recorded items. I selected the Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich. It will give you a total for calories, fat, etc for the entire day.

You also have an option of turning off foods which may contain certain allergens.

This app is awesome! Don’t be stranded when trying to eat healthy!

Here’s where you can find it!
